NIGERIAN TREND AM LOVING: IRO AND BUBA

If anyone knows me too well, then you would know that am not a fan of the normal iro and buba which usually makes you look 10x older than one actually is
Recently, people have actually brought some twist into styling it.
And its actually making me consider getting a bunch of them made since person don dey old na.
I wouldn't be expected to step out on my traditional wedding day looking all trousered (yea new word) up.
First it was the Oleku style. The inventor being from the Tiwa Savage's song (I fit kolo for that babe style I swear). If you don't know about the Oleku style, its where the buba is tied very short and the top and bottom is of different fabric.

And so after that, the current one that seems to be taking over the naija scene came about.
Which is the longer version of Oleku but mainly sewn with silk fabrics or lace and is usually styled by tying it by the side or the front.
This style has worn my heart over mehn... I can't get over it. Naija people una too get talent jare. See pictures below

I do not own any of the pictures used on this post. (All gotten from Google images). Let me know what nigerian or country's trend you loving below. See you on the next post. ADIOS....

NIGERIA: IGNORANCE AND RESPECT

This topic would mostly be directed to our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora (our abroad childrens.lol).
I am sure everyone has heard the saying "It takes a village to raise a child abi na train a child all join". But let me just say that Nigerians will always carry their own to the next level no matter what. The ignorance level is just raised to power two. After they will tell you that you have no respect when be say you no be my papa or mama when they themselves will not respect you.
This brings me to this story about my experience when I went back home. I swear I for break person head. lol (I no get power ooo no mind me).
So it all started with my third day in Lagos. My family stays in a gated community and so there is always a security guard staying at the entrance.
Each time I pass this entrance (with mostly my boyfriend and his friends), I greet the so-called guard (you know naija and greeting like say e dey pay their bill) e go answer. But his issue is that he doesn't know which of the houses I go into (like say e concern am) even though he saw my brother and myself the first day I crossed that gate.
So on this fateful night (una go see why I call am fateful).. My boyfriend came to see me and we decided to go out. Mind you na one gate to go and come we get. So when we were coming in, we opened the gate and closed it back the way it was ooo. The next thing we hear na *eeh eeh eeh make una come close that gate well. Shey na so una see am*. Omo my brain spark oo. First of all, why do you have to call me eeh eeh eeh?? Second of all *please* no dey ur dictionary abi. Besides this same gate was closed the way we saw it.   My boyfriend being the good Samaritan he is, decided to push the gate further. But in the main time, I allowed my mouth do some small running as per the woman when I abi.
The following morning I was going to get something and this guard decided to stop me. Biggest mistake of his life. The mouth when don rest, resurrect again. And he went ahead to say if them born me well I should pass the gate that night. Another big mistake You don't talk to people anyhow because you incharge of a gate. I no blame am because I short. I don dey ask God since where hin put me when hin dey give out height. So I decided to go tell my aunt everything that happened and she went to query the man. You can imagine what my aunt came to tell me later. This man went to tell my aunt that every time I pass the gate, that my boyfriend will always carry me or that we will be kissing. I no fit laugh that day. We went back to meet this man oo.. because I wanted to know when all these ones happened. The man no fit talk again.
This story is just to let y'all know how us the abroadians(i know its not a word. SHATAP.lol) are always treated because of the notion that we don't have respect. Everyone deserves RESPECT no matter how young they are.
The second aspect is IGNORANCE. People in Nigeria make stupid rules that does not make sense and people will go with it. This brings me to my second story. Visiting LASU (lagos state university).
I was about to go to this so called university to use their atm. On getting to the gate, they said I couldn't go in. I asked why. And they said I was not putting on the right outfit. My people ask me wetin I wear. I was putting on a trouser and a cami top because it was HOT. who has time for sleeves. i say na wa ooo. But if na celebrities na automatic entrance oo.
Another day I was going to church oo. Na hin I reach gate, One woman passing started shouting. Make una no allow am enter that church oo. See as devil dey come church in form of human being. The people at the gate was looking at the lady and looking at me and was saying that there was nothing wrong with my outfit. E just be like say make I fly give that woman better beating.Of course my mouth did not close oo. I dey church so God will forgive me after prayers.lol. You no dey feed me, you no dey buy my cloth so what gives you the right to dictate what I wear? The ignorance level in Nigeria is just too much. If you speak phoney, them go say you dey form. If you no speak, them go say you too bush. What gives people the right to embarrass someone on the road because of their dressing. Are you righteous yourself? All these things need to seriously stop. There are more things to be worried about than someone's dressing. I don talk am say anybody when try that nonsense with me ee.. if hin no kill me, i go kill am. This is 2014. Kilode gan?

So there is my rant for the day.. Hope this one make sense sha... See you on the next rant. Have a good weekend. ADIOS......

NIGERIAN CELEBRITIES ON INSTAGRAM

Hellurrr.....
Yep, am here again to rant on another issue that have been pondering on as a result of my boredom (ehh abeg no judge me) NIGERIAN CELEBRITIES( if u dey public eye for naija you fall under here) ON INSTAGRAM. I follow lots of them as per my aproko levels (if no be am, wetin person wan dey follow them again for) and I see things. Yes God buttered your bread and you became a celebrity but that does not give you the right to indirectly belittle them. You see a genuine follower come out and type a whole paragraph of how they love these celebrities and how these celebs are they role model blah blah blah. Then one of these celeb's friends go just bounce out fiaaa and leave a comment like *Ahh Babe you don forget me na*. The celeb would immediately respond. And then you will be wondering, how about the other person that wrote a paragraph of appreciation. How about you respond to them with a simple thank you. Its just two words you know. And then tomorrow you expect me to patronize you. E no go happen oo lie lie. I would have called names but make I just leave am for just rant. At least acknowledge your fans (I sha no be anybody fan) when they say hey. I know people will say American celebrities nko? But abeg e get any american celebrity for instagram when get less than 50k followers? I no sure. So I understand if them no respond. But check on naija people own. MOST of them no reach 10k. Comment section go get like 3 comments and yet you no go ever fit say thank you if them compliment you. But make you curse them..Haaaaaa...person no go hear word for instagram that day. Y'all better STOPEET before you wake up one day without fans. Trust naija people na, once them vex shikena lol. But on a serious note, if anyone compliments you, learn to say thank you. This message isn't only for celebrities but also for us. If someone can go out of their way and say *oh I like your....*, no be beans na. Just say thanks.
So thats my rant for today. Let me know what you hate about Nigerian celebrities on Instagram. Till we meet again on my next post.... ADIOS

LETTER TO NOLLYWOOD (NIGERIAN MOVIE INDUSTRY) PRODUCERS AND DIRECTORS

I have tried getting the message that most of you guys are trying to pass across in your movies these days but I end up getting nothing. I remember back in the day when movies had to do with what was going on in the country and we would actually enjoy them even when messages were been passed across. We would be able to seat with our parents and watch movies together without feeling uncomfortable or looking for the remote to forward the movie(cos of the sex scenes.lol..even though am old enough). I would need these new movie producers/directors to actually sit down and go through scripts before diving in to make these movies. So here are a few pointers that I came up with that I think am not the only one sick and tired of coming across:
   - Enough I mean enough of all these part 1 part 2 or sequel movies. Its really not that necessary. I would rather prefer one very interesting glued-to-my-seat movie than sequel movies that I end up forwarding till the movie ends. I went on youtube and clicked on Onyinye the wine tapper. First of all, this movie had nothing to do with the chick been a wine tapper and second, it showed that I had to have watched Golden Gift 1&2 before Onyinye the wine tapper. Really? Same with Azonto Classics 1 & 2 which had its own sequel. This is really getting annoying Biko.
  - Another annoying thing is naming these so-called movies according to useless trends going on in Nigeria. Some times I just think within myself whether they actually came up with these names themselves or what. You see movies like See Gobe, Limpopo Chicks abi na Babes sef, Blackbery Babes ( e no do una una do Blacberry Reloaded), Facebook babes. Its just sad mehn. I tire for una ooo..
  - Copying other countries movies to the point where you actually know the next scene that is going to come up. So whats the point of me even attempting to watch the movie. Don't get me wrong. It is allowed to copy movies but please make it less obvious abeg. Like one I watched of recent that they copied Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black woman. I dey wait d day these oyinbo owners go sue una nyash. There are lots of things happening in Nigeria that y'all can replicate into a movie.
  - One has to really screen these movies they play for their kids because of the excess sex scenes that comes up every two seconds. If no be sex, na ashewo work..
-This is the most that gets me mad. No kind of editing whatsoever. I was watching a movie one day and in the middle of the movie I heard *ACTION*. What? I had to rewind it to make sure I did hear that word. I was so embarrassed for them. So no one can go through these movies after shooting to really make sure everything is ok before it is been released to the public. Imagine the day of the premier and that comes up. Anyways most naija movies no dey get premier sef. But seriously its a shameful thing. Not to talk of those yoruba subtitles. Thats another topic entirely. If una no get good editors, I dey available oo..
  - The last point would be their makeup. I can't even begin to describe that one. Most of these actors and actresses would just be looking like they threw them in a mud and threw them in the movie. I just wanna ask, Is it it too hard to just hire a good makeup artist to prep these actors? On youtube, One can find most of these makeup artist based in nigeria to help out. if na 20 or 30k them go manage am if y'all can't afford the big ones. Some can even work for free but i no advice am. lol. At least these movies eventually make money so you can definitely pay for a makeup artist.

So here ends my rant for today. I hope this *LETTER* gets to the top guns. lol. No but on a serious note , change needs to come to the Nigerian movie industry ASAP. This is 2014 abeg. Na so my own take do me today oo.. I don leave una. Hope everyone have a great day. Let me know in the comments what you dislike about the Nigerian movie Industry. See you on the next post... ADIOS

NEW ADVENTURES.

So hey remember me. The girl that decided to abandon this blog for over 2 months. I was basically less motivated to post anything anymore because I was just lazy but I have decided to take it up again for a second try and hopefully it goes well this time around. My new aspects for the blog this year would be to at least put up a blog each week. Even if its pointless lol. I will no longer be uploading only outfits of the days, reviews and diys but will be uploading everything and anything. From rants to outfits to issues happening in countries (especially Nigeria). My aim for this blog is for it to move forward and I appreciate every support that has come my way. Even if its just a click. I really don't wanna take it too seriously any more because I find out that when I try making schedules, it ends up not working at all. So yea, this is the new route I will be going by. Thanks everyone for the support and help. See you on the next post..... ADIOS
